Hofsá is one of the best salmon rivers in Iceland and like it’s neighboring river Selá it falls into Vopnafjörður in Eastern Iceland. The river is a beautiful waterfall with pool after pool designed for fly fishing & the river is renowned for it’s abundance of fairly large salmon. The average catch statistics are 1121 salmon on 7 rods.
The Hofsá is fly only and the rules state a mandatory release of all salmon longer than 69cm.
