Varmá

Is one of Iceland most interesting trout rivers here you can catch all freshwater fish that lives in Iceland, sea trout, brown trout, char, eal, flounder and of course salmon.
The river is not big but very long and runs through the small town Hveragerdi just 20 minutes from Reykjavik. Sea trout is the most common fish in Varma and the prime seaon for sea trout is from the middle of July when the big ones come to late October but you can catch fish in Varma all season long from the beginning 1st of April to 20th of October.
This is an excellent option for those who are looking for an short trip where you have the possibility of a wide veriaty of fish not far from Reykjavik. Most common fishing method is probably streamers for the sea trout but since there are every kinds of fish available here all methods of fly fishing work well.
