Jökla river system
The Jökla river system is relatively new for a salmon destination or since the option opened by the big dam at Kárahnjúkar when it was built. The 2010 season was exceptional by all means with 349 salmon caught and a similar amount of char and trout. In 2010 the amount of salmon smelt released was doubled so there are high expectations for 2011
