River Hofsá
Hofsá river is located 130 km north of Akureyri, the largest town in northern Iceland. The river is about 25 km long and has mostly Arctic char fishing, although the occasional sea trout and salmon are also caught there. Hofsá ends in Jökulsá Vestri but originates in Hofsjökull glacier.

The river is pretty wide and is sometimes coloured with reddish sediments from Hofsjökull glacier. In the 5-6 km area between Runukvísl and to the waterfall Runufoss it is always clear. The fishing season in Hofsá starts in the middle of August and ends in the middle of October.
